Don’t know what to tell my rheumatologist at my 1st appointment.

Recap, I went to my GP for a physical since I had horrible pregnancies which caused my vitamins and minerals to be out of sync as if I were a person with Anorexia and bulimia. I had a condition called Hyperemesis gravidarum back to back as my babies are 2 and 1. I did tell him I felt tinglingly in my hands over the days leading up and just archly in my arms. He thought it was RA. Why? Idk. In my pregnancies I usually felt that way when someone of my vitamins or minerals was low. Be it potassium, magnesium, vitamin D or B12. For the results in a couple of hours and my Vitamin D was 12, supposed to be over 20. Had a positive ANA titer 1:40 low RF factor , negative for RF antibody , low ESR and low CRP. Then he says he thinks I have lupus and now he’s trying to take what he said back. I have made an appointment with a rheumy regardless because now I’m concerned over why he would say that. My problem now is in waiting to go to my rheumy appointment and having taken Vitamin d lol my hands have stop tingling. My gp said low vitamin D such as mine causes muscle pain , joint pain and tingling. I don’t feel tired, I do an hour of Zumba , weight reading, running, whatever it is everyday sometimes two hours. I don’t have Raynauds. It’s just in darker and can’t seem to get my vitamin d since I’m mostly inside since it’s winter and I have babies. I’m looking at my forms to take into my rheumy and I can’t tick any of the boxes. Huh.

Write down your questions and discuss or hand to the rheumatologist, they are there to support you. Best wishes Kevin

Well, it seems as if I won’t be seeing a Rheumatoligist. My doctor said my Ana titer is 1:40 is not clinically significant since I have no signs or symptoms. He said an Autoimmune response may have been caused by my extremely low Vitamin D (which was 12) which caused the tingling which I had for a week before I started taking high doses of Vitamin D. He said we will monitor if anything changes in my health otherwise but he’s going to see me again in 6 months to recheck my Vitamin D values. All of my other tests were within normal range so he said, some healthy people have a small ana titer which can be brought on by low vitamin d levels , some may develop an AI disease which doesn’t mean lupus exact since there are 100s and some may not. He said to stay healthy, active and monitor my body and if anything changes let him know.

Hi Jeniedo,

Writing down notes and questions that you would like to discuss during your appointment is a great place to start. We published a blog article which you can help you prepare for your upcoming appointment, to read this article please click here: lupusuk.org.uk/getting-the-...

You also may wish to download or request our free information pack to take with you to your appointment. This can aid you in explaining your symptoms to the rheumatologist: lupusuk.org.uk/request-info...

It is important to bear in mind that lupus presents differently in everybody therefore, it is unlikely for two people to share the exact same experience.

Please keep us updated, wishing you all the best.
