Hi all. Had anyone suffered from hair loss whilst taking mycophenelate? I've been on it 4 months now but only.now has my hair started falling out. It's alarming as there is a lot. I'm worried. Did your Dr stop the medication? Or just reduce the dose. Thanks in advance xx

Hair loss
Hi There. I have been on Mycophenelate since January 2014. Just coming off Chemo then and suffered hair loss with that. Hair came back and I have not noticed hair loss since. The usual in the sink in the morning and on my shoulders if I wear Black. Not significant. Not sure your dosage but I am on 1000mg daily. I take two 500 mg tab first thing in the morning.
I ve just started on these and I am concerned about this happening as I have read about people losing their hair on cellcept. I am currently on 1500 a day but will go up next week to 2000 a day. What dose are you on?
Hi I’ve been on mycophenolate since June this year following six months of chemotherapy I take 1000mg a day 500 am and 500 pm and so far no hair loss. I’m also on Hydroxychlorquine and steroids. 🌺
Thank you all for your reply. I. Currently taking 1.5g AM and 1.5g Pm. I think this dose is massive compared to you 3. I will be ringing my consultant on Monday. It needs reducing asap. I will be devastated if my hair falls out. 😯 my kidney function test has improved so don't see why not. The is again and good luck to each of you. Xx
Hi!
I've been taking Cellcept for a little over 4 months now. Started on low dose and worked up to 2000 mg daily for those first 4 months and then Rheumy upped dose to 3000mg a couple weeks ago (1000 mg 3x day). I've also been on Plaquenil since first being diagnosed in May.
I was already having hair fall pretty bad when I first got sick and it actually seems to have slowed down. I have noticed the hair fall and breakage ebbs and flows but haven't yet figured out what the cause is. I haven't noticed it getting worse since starting the Cellcept, if that helps
Hi Twad ,
Hair loss can potentially be a side effect of medication or a symptom of lupus so sometimes it is difficult to identify the cause. Discussing your current treatment with your doctor and seeing whether a change in your dose is advisable and whether it may help is worthwhile.
