Hi, I'm new to this site and to treatments for RA and Lupus. I was diagnosised 35 yrs ago with RA and recent blood work put me on the path to see a Rhuematiod Specialist. Dr. put me on Meloxicam and Plaquenil a week ago. I also take Gabapentin for Fibromyalgia . I feel like I'm dying !! Since I started the Melox. and Plaq. I actually feel like its making my blood boil or something. Its hard to discribe the feeling... just like I can feel it in my blood ??? My skin hurts so bad right now I wish I could float . Is this a normal feeling in the beginning ? I'm almost afraid to take it today. My whole body hurts.. even to breathe.

Not quite the same for me. I can't take meloxicam, but the early days of Plaquenil/hydroxy made me very itchy all over I felt as though I had fleas, and had to cut my nails as short as possible because I was covered with scratches. I took gabapentine for about three days to see if it eased pain, but stopped because it made me hallucinate.

Hi!

I've been taking Plaquenil for about a year now and I seem to recall that I had a few weeks at the beginning that it made me a bit itchy. It wasn't all over, mainly on my wrists and it went away pretty quickly.

I will say that my Dr prescribed Meloxicam but I haven't started it yet. When I get more than one new med I start one at a time and try it for a week. That way if I have weird side effects I know which med to blame.

You might want to consider dropping the Meloxicam for a week or so to see if your side effects stop. At least that way you'll know which medication is causing you problems and can tell your Dr

I hope you get to feeling better!

Hi gmasheila ,

If you are experiencing severe side effects after starting these treatments I would recommend that you contact your doctor for their advice. They may wish you to stop one or both of the treatments, or they may suggest that any side effects will ease after a little longer on them.

Hi there,

When i first started talking Plaqinel I had a strange feeling like my blood was really hot you know that feeling that your blood is over heating that kind of feeling git settled about 6 weeks into it, and my skin felt really itchy. i would keep a close eye on it maybe its having a bit of interaction with you and your other meds. I hope this helps maybe see how you are in a few days and if not feeling any contact them. can I ask you though when you say Planqinel are you on Quinoric Hydroxychloriquine version or Zentia Hydroxychloriquine as I can't take the quinoric because of the diff fillers and was extremely poorly on Quinoric

Hi I don't take plaqniel nut I take meloxicam. I hurt more of I don't take it. I also take gabapentine along with other meds. I take 2400 my if gabapentine and I don't feel like it is enough. Maybe talk to your doctor and maybe have them take you off the plaqniel.

Good luck to you

Hello, I started taking Plaquenel about 3 months ago. I have RA, and it was miserable, both feet and hands. the plaquinel (worst for me) and predisone had horrible side effects for me. My face felt like it was on fire, dizzy, blurry vision, brown spots on my face, and hair loss (not everyone is the same). I was told by my doctor to try a plant based diet. It's been 2 month and have felt a great deal of difference. I have also stopped taking cholesterol meds, my a1c came down to 53 (I was border line diabetic), and lost 10 pounds. It's a big change in diet, but what is the alternative. This is a plan being promoted by Kaiser Permanente. It's made a difference in my life. Consult your doctor about stopping plaquenil. I hope this helps. I'm 67 and have worked with my hands all my life carpentry, guitar, general construction, so, you can guess how depressed I was. Good luck.
