Flu Jab?

Has anyone had the flu jab at their Rheumy clinic at hospital? I'm seeing my Lupus nurse tomorrow but can't get the egg free jab at my GP's.

Just wondered if anyone else has got theirs at hospital for any reason or also needed the egg free one.

*UPDATE*

Saw my Lupus nurse today and she's speaking to my surgery. With my weight and height I should be able to have the nasal spray which is egg free. Although my surgery are only authorised to give it up to 18 years of age she can authorise it for me. Such hard work when so many have issues with the flu jab containing egg.

I was under the impression that the nasal spray version contains live attenuated flu virus and should not be used in people with weakened immune systems.

It's the only safe alternative to the flu jab which includes raw egg. If it was dangerous then they wouldn't prescribe the nasal spray to children surely? As children who need the flu vaccine usually have an illness and/or weakened immune systems?

The flu vaccine is recommended for all children, with a few exceptions, not just kids with illnesses:

I was definitely not saying that the vaccine is dangerous, just that people with weakened immune systems are "not recommended" to have the spray as it says in the links above. Please ask your doctor or nurse if unsure about your individual case.

I already have at my hospital appt with my specialist Lupus nurse yesterday and the nasal spray is the only alternative without containing egg for me. Or if I don't have it then getting flu is a greater risk. If I did have the flu jab containing egg then I would be very sick so isn't an option

Plus no nurse or doctor are permitted to give me the flu vaccine containing egg as if anything happened to me they would be held responsible and risk losing their job and being sued etc I wish it was straight forward but it's not fortunately :(
