Hello kiwe,

Sounds like you are having a bad time. I think that many - perhaps most - people on this forum have had multiple diagnoses, often apparently contradictory and frequently changing. What treatment are you currently on? x

Thanks. I'm on methotrexate and mycophenolate. Both didn't make any difference to me. They have now started me on what they call biological and I'm now better.

The other way round for me Kiwe. Told I had RA without a diagnosis and given diclofenac. Ended up with an ulcer and in hospital after collapsing, caused by the drug. Needed surgery to repair a big ulcer, in hospital for almost 3 weeks. The surgeon told me never to take antiflammatories again and I havent

Once recovered I saw a locum because I needed another medical certificate, he sent off an urgent request for bloods at the hospital. Within 2 weeks bloods were done, when I went back for results, they were positive for mild SLE and I was prescribed Plaquenil. They've suited me very well and I'm stable after 12 years on the drug

When my sister found out about a wrong diagnosis she said I could sue the gp surgery...I havent but I have a scar from that operation, a constant reminder of what happened

Talk to your doctors.... I trusted mine, never again

I'm sorry you had to go thru all that. I'm glad you responded to plaquenil. It didn't work for me.

Hi kiwe ,

It is possible for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis to overlap and some consultants even call cases like this 'rhupus'.

Our leaflet about Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD) may be of interest to you. You can read or download it at lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
