Hi amandafeelsrough ,

A diagnosis of lupus itself doesn't necessarily make you eligible for disability benefits. This is because it is a very varied condition presenting differently in everyone, with some managing very well with relatively mild symptoms.

The assessments for these benefits use a points-based system to see how your condition impacts your mobility and ability to care for yourself. This website can be used to see whether you may be entitled to PIP (and at what levels) - c-app.org.uk/

No specific diagnosis entitles you to pip or a blue badge. It's how your health is affected by them that is the determining factor. You can see the self assessment guides for both if you google them.

Hi t I gave this some thought some days I struggle to walk and this can last up to a week but thankfully it only happens about twice a year now in on Meds so I don't think I would meat the criteria also I still go to work and I have a very physical job (I'm a carpenter) although over the last 2/3 years I've slowed down a lot due to the fatigue and joint pain

Hi there, I have Lupus and have just been awarded a blue badge. I can't tell you what a relief it is. You may have to go for an assessment however when I booked my assessment the lady told me they had reviewed my case and issued one straight away! I completely understand how you feel. I'm currently taking 15+ tablets a day but I still get "well you look ok to me". Hang in there and this forum is amazing for support and advice. Keli

I have been receiving PIP and have had a blue badge for 3 years now as my SLE affects my tendons in my arms and legs! Without them I would have severe mobility issues. I use a travel mobility scooter for trips longer than I am able to usually walk, so the answer to your question is yes, but you'll only be awarded PIP and a blue badge if your lupus affects mobility and you pass the assessment!
