I'm moving to Glasgow in just over a weeks time. I have SLE with significant renal impairment. Currently I'm under the care of renal and rheumatology and care needs to be transferred to Glasgow.
I was wondering if anyone has had any good experiences of consultants in the area and if there is anyone you would recommend!
Thanks,
Nikki

Paul Howard from Lupus UK should be able to point you to the Lupus specialists in Glasgow. There are some excellent rheumatologists in Glasgow I believe so hopefully you'll be well served there. I recently relocated to the other side of Scotland (Fife/Dundee) from the north isles and have found this area good for me. Best of luck with the move!
I attend Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Originally I was under Dr Madhok, but I have been placed under other consultants over the last 10 years. Currently I am under Dr Lucy McGeoch, but the best rheumy for me was Dr Nicola Acorn. Thing is because the clinics are so busy, you don't always see the same Dr. I usually see a different face every time I attend (twice yearly), but they've all been really good (although sometimes I find Dr McGeoch can be a bit rushed & can talk over you at times!)
Are you on Facebook? If so there is a great group called 'Lupus UK Sufferers'. Quite a few members attend Glasgow clinics and could give you their experience of consultants & more advice.
Hope your move goes smoothly & you settle in well.
I have been attending the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (formerly the Southern General) since I was diagnosed with Lupus 14 years. I can thoroughly recommend the two consultants there - Dr Morrison and Dr Fraser. Both ladies are excellent.
