UV. Some information.

There was a small clip on Ultra Violet light and its strength during full sun and cloud on The One Show tonight (Wednesday 5th April) toward the end of the show. Interesting as it showed that the UV was as strong if not stronger during cloud.

I caught the end of the programme as well, what a surprise & good to know that clouds can Increase uv through dispersing the sun rays. Will have to find out more about the study, especially that being in the shade does not protect you from UV!!!!😱 As I leap from shade to shady spot.... I now wear 50 factor all the time & gloves as my rheumy said I was more sensitive to UV and it might be that cloudy winters are no break from it...also might help to explain why I had a bad reaction to reducing hydroxy during the winter months as initially advised and certainly explains my tingling face & hands which is better when I cover up or protect from UV......

.I was shattered after just a small amount of exposure of the lovely sunshine this past weekend when visiting my daughter at college. Just to much UV..still testing my limits.and I was only out for I thought a short time and fairly covered.. All good to know....😎😎😎😎😎😎 oh joy .....summer is coming, time to be a hermit .... ML 😁

I keep well covered and use Factor50 year round. I'm teased for my "garments" which I got from Toast - there are long loose robes of a type the bedoin wear, complete with a deep hood that pulls over my head. They are ideal for times I need to go out and find where the dog has got to.

I spent about an hour out in the sunshine on Sunday, and even with f50 my malar rash came back with vengeance, along with increased general symptoms. I was off work for five months last year with a flare that escalated in June, and I'm pretty sure uv exposure played a big part. I really, really don't want to go back there, so this dramatic reaction within an hour has taken me back a bit. I shall have to wear a blackout curtain! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I saw it too. My problem is I have horses and I teach dressage. I've had to cancel today's teaching and given my two boys (horses) the day off as after spending the last 2-3 days out side I feel dreadful. Last two evenings I've been bright bright red boiling hot face and freezing cold body. Even in the warmth of the last 3 days plus today I've had/got raynards, even on my medication.

I was angry as usual that they only ever mention Skin Cancer generally as a medical consequence. The man presenting was a doctor and again no reference for the general public to lupus or other uv related conditions !

I was slow to respond back again as we had taken our 7 year old grandson to the Isle of Wight before our next grand daughter is born. Obviously the sunniest weekend (not really complaining) However, to cover up I looked like something from Return of the Jedi. My grandson asked if he could be Luke. Sun factor 50, 30 in my cover up make up (so that makes 80) a hat, long sleeves etc not sure if the shade is now a better option. And I still have inflamed blisters on my face.

Isle of Wight was great though, I'm shattered. But worth it.
