I was babysitting a 2 year old and he has a cold and he sneezed on me and I got a cold within 7 hours, usually it takes 24-48 hrs to be affected by the cold virus, could it be from lupus because lupus is bad immune system, I got it that fast

I get sick easily as well, my step daughter who's always sick seems to get me sick everytime I'm over. I'm thinking it has more to do with my white blood cell count being low rather than lupus.

Same here. My youngest daughter came by a month ago. She had a nasty cold. She left about 11 and by 20:00 I was sick as a dog. I have to be careful when I have my grandkids over. They always seem to have something and by that evening I have it, too.

Like someone else commented, I think it's to do with how lupus & treatments for lupus affects our white cell count.

A friend bought round her daughter who had had a sickness bug, within 4-6 hours of her leaving I started vomiting. I know I didn't pick it up elsewhere as I had not left the house for a week and she was the only person that was ill.

So lupus affects our white cell count and that makes us get sick easier than others?

This won't necessarily happen in everybody with lupus, but some people's lupus can attack other white blood cells which may make them more prone to infection. Most people with lupus will be at a higher risk of infection because if the immunosuppressant medications used its treatment.

All my friends now know not to come any where near me if they have any cold/virus, flu or sickness bug as it takes only a few minutes for me to go down with it.

Hi there Jensen,

Us lupies will get ill easier due to the lupus it's self but also because of the medication that we have to take for it as a majority of it will suppress the immune system. You may be lucky like me and also have an immune deficiency as well which will make you more susceptible.

Keep in mind though that a healthy person with a good immune system can get ill quickly, it's sometimes the luck of the draw depending what virus/ bactria is causing the symptoms.
