Second Visit to New GP Practice

I decided I really needed to see a GP for my swollen burning feet every morning and very annoying whooshing heartbeat sound in one ear ( the sound goes if I grip that side of the neck). Both problems have been there since the turn of this year.

Another v friendly GP who said I really must be seen by rheumy because he himself does not know enough about my auto-immune problems, and thought it bad that it's been so long since I did see one. We discussed the way that the Raynauds is leaving me with deadened fingers and toes at times, so I have to be super careful not to cut accidentally etc. He gave me what must be the magic telephone number and I'm to get a quick appt with rheumy. Not sure what the definition of quick is, but will see.

Will see another GP next week about the whoosing noise. I've googled pulsatile tinnitus. It could be something or nothing.

Hi Lupiknits,

It's great that you have a GP that actually admits that they don't know enough about autoimmune. Mine sent me away strongly suggesting that it was all in my head. I'm in the process of changing mine.

You do need to see a rhuemy there is no doubt so good luck with the app to!

I'm new on here but reading some of the posts gives you the real lowdown in a language you can understand! Some have made me laugh - M&S body suit comes to mind (apologies but authors name escapes me, having a day with the fairies...) some have made me cry but...we're all in it together so it's comforting to know there is always a friendly/helpful person out there with sound advice.

Good luck with the whooshing diagnosis - mine sounds like a slow steam train! Sums me up! A bit slow.

Let us know how you get on 🤗

Thanks Charliebear! This forum is the best place to be. Lots of advice, support, and really good friends. I look forward to your updates x

Just edited to add - if you find your current GP Practice unhelpful or disorganised, change! Took me a year to do it, but it's so much better.

Thanks for the support - I'm going to do it, I've got one more set of bloods to get from current practice then I'm leaving. I can't believe that I've waited so long...makes me mad so I'm channeling that into doing something about it 😊

We'll done you for having the strength to change!

I'm so glad you've managed to change GP practice - it could make all the difference. I often get the whooshing heart beat in either or both ears so I'm interested to hear what they think it is. Mine tends to be much worse when I'm anemic. Hope you get a Rheumy appt very soon x
