I was only in the GP surgery on Thursday re a cough and cold that I've had for around two months, on and off. Just can't shake it and wanted advice re MMF.
Anyway, we were away for the weekend with friends. 24 of us in total. 6 uni friends and all their families. We had a great time. We always do. Been doing this for so many years. But on Sunday one of the other children was sick and was put down to a new steroid spray he had been using for inflamed adenoids.
However unfortunately others started to feel unwell and so me and my family hit the road promptly on Monday morning by 10am. We made it home without incident but my daughter was ill last night. By 10pm I had it too. Out of 24, 14 now have it.
Some of the kids shared a dorm room. We had a finger buffet on Saturday night. And the house was very warm. Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it!?!?
We think it's norovirus but no idea where it came from. I've sent my boys to school and hope they escape it. Husband at work.
So me and my 8 year old daughter are in bed, feeling very sorry for ourselves. Feel so weak. Butterfly is burning on my face and my legs are aching.
Haven't taken my meds last night or this morning, as the thought of swallowing tablets fills me with dread.
It's one thing after another!

Where did it come from? That child who threw up - if it is norovirus everyone could have been infected from that one child although usually it appears in a few hours. If it were food poisoning you would all have gone down at the same time.
urrghh, how horrible for you all, wendy39. My daughter came down with something similar just before xmas. The only consolation I can offer is that most norovirus type things don't last that long. I've chucked away all the bars of soap in the house, and switched to liquid soaps, and the towels are now getting washed a whole lot more regularly! Hope you are feeling better very soon X
I know what you mean! My mum has just dropped off more bleach - apparently only thing that will kill it. And heaps of washing - bedding and towels and nighties etc all waiting to be washed. But that can wait. I can barely move. You can't avoid germs with kids can you!!?!
Quite so. And even when they have gone back to uni - like mine has just done - it doesn't stop. On the weekend, the trap under the kitchen sink fell apart - as I discovered when I pulled the plug out and emptied the washing up water into the cupboard and all over the floor. In the old days, this would have been a thirty minute clearing up and resealing job. Now, it has taken me three days, taking it a bit at a time, to sort it out. I tested it this morning - success! - and opened a 2 litre bottle of coke to celebrate. Unfortunately, my Raynauds is bad this morning, and I fumbled the bottle. It completely emptied itself over the worktop, fridge and floor. Halfway through mopping up, I got a text from darling daughter asking for advice as she has woken up with a sore throat. As you say - there's always something....
Keep well hydrated, as I am sure you are both doing, just hard when your feeling poorly. Let's hope the rest of the family can fight it off, sounded like a good weekend, glad you all got that in before getting the bug...feel better soon, both of you, big hug...ML
Oh poor old you and your 8 year old - hope the others manage to avoid it. Norovirus is going about up here too and hubby works in the old folks home where it was doing the rounds. He washes his hands all the time and always wears gloves when working so seems to have avoided it so far. All our uni aged sons and visiting friends and 14 year old nephew have all finally departed and I'm alone with dogs in the house for first time in a month.
Wind howling outside and weather warnings for freezing spell up here. I made the mistake of watching Silent Witness tonight and have creeped myself out. It was about an evil serial killer GP! Hope I sleep tonight as have got a ton of mouth ulcers and gum pain and gastritis just now - but feeling lucky to not have Norovirus at least.
Sorry to read how poorly you are. It's a terrible price to pay for the MMF working but it can make you so vulnerable to infections!. Hope you and your daughter are better soon. Roll on the Spring!. X
Thank you all for your kind messages. My daughter has gone back to school today. She's not 100% but it was virtually 48 hours clear and she has to get back to her routine. Me, I dropped her off at school, went to the supermarket and ran an errand and came straight back to bed. I'm shattered. Horrible bug. Did manage to get my blood test done though, that I had had to cancel on Tuesday morning. So we'll see what the results are. GP ordered immunoglobulin serum test.
