Hi all, I am due surgery on my elbow with General a anaesthetic next week and I seem to have a cold arriving, will they still go ahead with the surgery. I have waited a long time to have this surgery. There never seems a good time when you have autoimmune problems.
Thanks for any advice.

If you have a cold then they may want to defer the surgery - it really isn't a good idea with a general anaesthetic. However - could they not do it with just a shoulder block? My husband had hand surgery done like that. It may be worth asking. Both he and I have had surgery done while fully conscious - here in Italy they don't even give you temazepam to make you sleepy. It makes for an interesting time in surgery though
My surgery was canceled in February this year due to having a bug. I was told it would be dangerous for the lungs because of the tubs that have to go through the nose to lungs for breathing during the op.
Well I had the surgery which time will tell if it was successful but I know have a chest infection again, I don't think my cold and cough had gone so it has come back with avengement. So fed up with these chest infections. Seems to be me every winter. It's my lot so I will have to deal with it.
