PET Scan & Diagnosis.

Have any of you had a PET Scan. Was it used as a diagnosis aide for auto immune. It's been a couple years of inflammatory markers in blood tests. Lots of tests but this one is in a couple weeks. Not sure if this will help. Thoughts ......

I had a PET scan a few years ago, I was told it is the best of all scans?! I already had a diagnosis of lupus but I had some unexplained 'lumps' and difficulty with respiratory. Lumps fortunately just ended up inflammation of the lining but I did end up with diagnosis of fibrosis because of lupus.

As far as I know this scan can look at everything so it may show up an area in the body that is causing problems, at least it hopefully will rule out anything they think may be wrong.

Hope it all goes ok.

Hi

I had a pet scan, my rhumy was checking for inflammation, he thought I had vasculitis, I didn't.

I think that they can pick up a most things, but if you have high inflammation markers like I had, then most probably they are looking to see where the inflammation is in the body.

Hi Daisy, yes they are checking to see where else inflammation is besides lungs. Hoping for a diagnoses after test. But sounds like that could be wishful thinking. Thanks.
