Due to a bleed in my tummy, I'm not able to take Ibuprofen.
Someone mentioned Tumeric capsules from the likes of Hollande & Barratt to me today as a natural anti-inflammatory. Is this real/does it work? Any other options?

I have no idea, but I have the same problem with ibuprofen etc. Does your GP have alternatives? My rheumy prescribed meloxicam last year and my GP almost wept at the thought of my GI problems.
Hi yes it does work very well a 'natural' remedy just go to any shop and get turmeric then glass of milk stir in as much turmeric as you can tolerate! stir it up and drink do every day so could start with a desert spoon full.
Depends what you are using it for - it doesn't replace ibuprofen as a painkiller but is said to be almost as good as steroids for inflammatory disorders, I don't know if that is true but on my home forum we have several ladies who swear by using turmeric powder in cooking.
However - you might be interested in this thread from another forum which also warns about gastric problems with the capsules:
Yes it works but I take a teaspoon of the powder in a small amount of milk.
It is a brilliant anti inflammatory - widely used. Hidden is right , put it in milk - I use it in cooking now and scrambled eggs, omelette taste marvellous and look amazing. Great for sore throats and chest infections. H&B sell it in capsule form too.
Just had another thought - I use Paracetamol and codeine for my pain when it is really bad? Can you take that? Cocodamol available in all chemists the Chemisy will know if you can take.
I do have cocodamol and codydramol for pain but I was wondering if I'm missing out on the benefits of inflammation reduction by not having Ibuprofen - so was looking for an alternative. I think I will try Tumeric capsules as there seems to be some benefit there - although I couldn't have it in milk - I would puke!
Thanks for all your advice
If you google it you will find a list of anti-inflammatory foods - some people swear that they can tell when they haven't had their usual 3 portions of oily fish a week and turmeric, garlic and ginger in their cooking. You can also find a list of what are called pro-inflammatory foods, ones that encourage inflammation: sugar, vegetable cooking oils other than olive oil and refined grains are high on the list and really easy to avoid.
A friend of mine said she drinks ginger root tea every night before bed and works great for her inflammation and joint pain. I would ask you doctor about anything you want to take first though.
