for many years my partner and I have wanted to travel to Europe but my health has never allowed it. At the minute my lupus and APS are fairly stable so I want to seize the opportunity while I can.
The only set back I can see is that I would need to take my wheelchair. I can walk short distances but still need my chair for support.
My son recently went to Paris and said that the metro was not wheelchair accessible so not to visit there.
So basically I am asking if anyone has experience of travelling with a wheelchair, how they managed at the airport and where they went that was wheelchair friendly.
I look forward to all your replies, hints and advice.

Hi, travelling with a wheelchair its not as scary as it sounds my son has cerebral palsy and we've travelled to Europe and the states. The airports are a breeze as long as you let the airline know in advance that your a wheelchair user. You get (well we always have ) fast tracked through passport control and seated on plane first but usual last off your chair will be brought to the airplane door or an airport chair supplied and yours taken to luggage claim . Yes Paris metro rubbish but so is London Underground. Please don't let your wheelchair stop you. We've been to Nice The Algarve Spain and Florida which was by the far the best the Americans have it all sorted for wheelchair access. If somewhere wasn't easily accessible people were always willing to help us.
