I'm thinking of claiming. Good luck, hope it goes well.
Can you claim PIP even if you work full time?
Hi Steve
Yes you can claim PIP even if you work full time as it's about how your illness affects you day to day. You can ring the DWP for the forms then I strongly advise you get Citizens Advice to help you fill them in. They know the best way to answer the questions!. Good luck.
Thanks misty, do you still have to be assessed like if you weren't working?
Hi Steve
Not everyone is assessed for PIP. It's if they haven't enough info or are not sure to make a decision. This is why I say go to Citizens Advice and also it's good if you can include any healthcare letters you've got from Consultants, physios. I've done this and didn't have to be assessed. Good luck. Misty
Good luck Footygirl, hope it goes well and you take someone with you to the assessment. X
I've been told to apply for this but really you're his to complete the form. I work part time and really struggle to carry out some of the most simple tasks but I'm so stubborn I won't let work see the struggle, and it's things as simple as trying to open boxes or pick up change to give to a customer. I struggle to work the fridges/freezers as after literally seconds my hands feel like icicles and I can't seem to control them. But the forms only seem to be interested in me being able to dress/clean myself. It's all very confusing! I'd love to work longer hours so I'm financially better off but I struggle with the 16/20 hours I currently work. Any suggestions on how I fill out the forms??
Hi Sam phone your council office they will have a welfare rights team
Explain your situation to them they will appoint someon to help and advice
You fill in your forms etc they were a great help to me g
Wow footygirl that is extremely quick! Everything crossed for you, good luck
Good luck Footygirl !
Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I was a little surprised. I had a local carers group help in filling in the form. The girl was very helpful though I had reservations. I am to be assessed at home. There is no assessment centre in my town, the nearest is Manchester and as I have mobility issues they may have decided to come to me.
I have just been diagnosed with Fibro, on top of the Blessed Lupu AIH and Menieres, which is very painful at the moment affecting my and and wrists in particular which affects my ability to do a lot of things at the moment. These are added to my fatigue and balance issues which affect my independence.
I will give as much detail of the things they ask and put me through as I can to give you an idea of what it entails. I will be reading the Work and Benefits guide before they come. I had to become a member but their advice sounds authorative to me so I will read that in case they have any do's and don'ts I didn't know about.
By the way, if you want help to fill in the form talk to any rights group in your town. We did and you can get an extension in the time limit for returning the forms, if you have to wait for an appointment to get the help.
Good luck to everyone in the same boat. It is not stressless this.
