Has anyone ever used activated charcoal for aiding digestion or lower cholesterol? If so does it work? I met someone who mentioned that that is what they take and it has worked for them. Any info will help add I was thinking of giving it a go.

Activated charcoal
Hi, I can tell u that I deal with horses and they are given charcoal to settle their stomach and for horses this induces a calming effect.
It works very well for that and is very safe although very hard to get out of ur clothes!
I hope that helps.
It works very well for stopping stomach ulcers in horses. I hope it helps you as much.
Please be aware that medications taken by mouth (Oral drugs) interact with activated charcoal. Activated charcoal absorbs substances in the stomach and intestines. Taking activated charcoal along with medications taken by mouth can decrease how much medicine your body absorbs, and decrease the effectiveness of your medication. To prevent this interaction, take activated charcoal at least one hour after medications you take by mouth.
Side effects of activated charcoal include constipation and black stools. More serious, but rare, side effects are a slowing or blockage of the intestinal tract, regurgitation into the lungs, and dehydration.
Please seek advice from your doctor before trying this.
I'd be a little careful with charcoal if you take any meds. The reason for this is because activated charcoal can be used to absorb medications after an overdose. I'm not suggesting that would be in anyway linked to you or your use for it but it could potentially stop you from absorbing other medications and getting the benefit of them. I'd discuss it with your doctor first.
