Hello all

I had an interview at the Jobcentre yesterday where I was taken off ESA. It's little known that any DLA savings affect ESA, I was inadvertently over the limit, they have a new computer system that trawls bank accounts!.

I contacted the CAB who confirmed that it's true and admitted it's not made clear.i have to wait 28 days to be told how much has to be paid back!.

I'd hate anyone to be caught like I have. I hope you are all as well as possible.

What a shock! Official bureaucracy is impossible to understand...you think you've 'got it' but you probably haven't...and there is virtually no hope of winning an argument. Sorry you're having to deal with this, misty. It's good of you to give us this heads up

Hi Barnclown

Thank you for your lovely reply. What is horrible is the feeling of Big brother watching our every move and there's no hiding place!. I'm feeling stronger tonight and it will be lovely not having regular interviews pressurising me to go back to volunteering regardless of how my health is!. I hope you are as well as can be . 😊X

Sorry you have had to go through this worry. It is upsetting ,but I am glad in some ways it has taken a wee bit pressure off you and you are feeling more settled about it now.

I am sure we would all agree that being chronically ill is enough of a trial in life without all the sadly necessary trials of having to cope with claiming benefit .

Thanks for letting us know about this latest development.

Hello Cuttysark

Thank you for your lovely reply, really appreciate it and so agree with what you say.

It was such a shock but I'm very fortunate I'm not going to be homeless or destitute, it hasn't done a lot for my health though!. I hope you are feeling better. Love MistyX

Sorry to hear what happened. It has happened to me too. Mine was stopped on the 15th of april, have since written to them to reconsider their decision and explaining why I think it is wrong for them to stop my ESA because they say I am over the permitted limit? They said it takes two weeks to get a reply but am still waiting. I don't think they know that they are putting people into so much misery by doing that!

Hi pipido

Sorry you've had your ESA stopped too. Hope you get a good answer to your letter, I'm interested to know. They don't begin to understand the stress they give ill people do they?. They've given me their decision, I've paid up and they were quick to cash the cheque but haven't sent a receipt that they said they would!. Hope you get an answer soon. X
