Juice plus: Hi all was wondering about juice plus... - LUPUS UK
Juice plus
Hi Skid. I'm on it, they say that it is really helpful. I have got all 3, vegetable, fruit and berries. I will do absolutely anything to help my body. I have been on Juice plus for about 4 months now. My energy levels are much better but I did go gluten, dairy and (nearly sugar) free at the same time. I also do a nutribullet smoothie every morning includes greens and super foods, I.e. Small amount of Hemp protein powder, flax & chia seed, Brazil nuts, baobab super fruit powder etc (all in Deliciously Ella recipe book). Has helped me so much. go for it, I really believe our bodies need the extra fruit and veg. Hope that helps. Very best wishes
We would recommend that you discuss any alternative/complementary therapies or radical changes to your diet with your consultant before starting. It is wise to be cautious of anything that may boost your immune system because it could potentially make your lupus more active. Please bear in mind that due to the variability of lupus, what works for one person may not work for another, or could even be potentially harmful.
Thankyou for your replies, It sounded a good thing at the demonstration I went to but I was feeling a bit unsure because of our immune systems . Maybe I will chat with consultant regarding this. I am not putting product down but what works for some people doesn't necessary work for others. I`ll stick to my 5 a day for time being. thankyou all , will let you know what consultant says. Skid.
Juicing didn't work for me. Made me feel bad, but I eat lots of fruit and vegetables and they are OK. I go with nature - if God didn't make it, I don't eat it - God didn't juice for us!
The idea behind Juice plus boosting your immune system comes from the fact that a lot of people are sick because they don't get enough nutrition from their food. The point of juice plus is to bridge the gap between the nutrition people do get, to what they actually need with real food. Therefore, when people actually get good nutrition in their bodies, they find they don't get sick as often. This is something I've discovered with myself.
My instinct says I'm sure you'll be fine if you take Juice Plus, but I understand the hesitation. Talk to your consultant about your concerns, try and find some testimonies of other people with your condition and is taking juice plus, if you really want to talk to your doctor. There is research on this topic too about the immune system.

Hope this helps.
Thank you Rosiea184, I will have chat with my consultant when I see him next thankyou for your reply. Happy , healthy new year to you Skid.
If it is just the juice that you're drinking and not the fibre of the fruit and veg that you juice, you put too much sugar into your system in one go. That will cause a surge in blood sugar, a call for high levels of insulin to be produced and if you keep going on like this, you may cause insulin resistance.
Better to use the Nutribullet-type smoothing because the fibre makes the sugar to be absorbed a lot slower. Another way to avoid sugar overload due to juicing is to accompany it with fatty food, again to slow down absorption (maybe a spoon of coconut oil mixed with the juice).
Best way is to have regular salads of all kind of veg and fruit, rotating then every two days. This way you supplement your vitamins and anti-oxidants in a natural manner.
I think you got a bit confused, Juice Plus is not just the juice of fruits and vegetables.

There is fiber too, I know the name is confusing but it isn't just juice from fruit's and vegetables.
