to juice or not to juice ?

depend on what you are going to juise some fruits dont go to well with meds grapefruit for one citrouse fruit not to good with athritis read some where that beetroot jiuce is good for sle let us now how you get on
If you avoid the citrus juices, you should be fine..... adding in some veggie, like: carrots, beetroot, celery, cucumber (flesh only) will also rack up the vitamins. Juice alone will not be enough however, you need to maintain a balanced diet.
I tried and failed. I juiced but it boosted my immune system... not fun!! i guss it counteracted my methotrexate (immune suppressant) as i was very sore. So id say go for it but get advice as to what to juice and avoid boosting your immune system!
I started juicing last week but primarily hard vegies and the occasional apple or pear. Am avoiding all soft fruits as they send glucose levels through the roof and are very acidic on the mouth.
There was a documentary on tv at the weekend following two men in the States who had AI conditions. Under medical supervision they lived on vegie juices for months, both were very obese so they lost a lot of weight, gained control of their BP etc. One was on Methotrexate and was able to come off it, the other on Prednisolone and he too came off that. They were both able to reduce pain and engage in more physicial activity. It was very impressive.
I'm not trying anything that extreme though, just finding an easier way to consume vegies because my mouth has been very sore for the past few weeks so am on 'baby' foods - by juicing the veg I can drink them through a straw! Had six carrots and an apple this morning followed by reddy brek.
I saw the programme too, very impressive results. Think we all need to approach with caution and with doctor's advice. My understanding is that blending is better than juicing because we do need the fibre however inconvenient that is when you have to keep going to the loo! Also, smoothies should have the required protein and fat content if they are truly going to be beneficial. Look up 'Body Reset Diet' which I think is a pretty sensible approach in my opinion- I am just about to give this a go.
