Hi Lupus

Lupus can affect your digestion , one of the symptoms can be bloating. You can get Irritable Bowel Syndrome caused by stress!. Have you found certain foods can trigger it?. Hope I've helped?. X

I think so as I'm extremely bloated all of the time. So bad I got a job to breath. All the medication doesn't help mind. I now been diagnosed with colitis I think it's all part of the lupus . Is there anything that it doesn't cause !

There's rarely a day goes by that I'm not bloated. Whether it's Lupus or all the medication I don't know but my stomach is permanently swollen and sore.

Same. Opening my bowels is a huge problem but I don't know which meds are the culprit.

No not that I am aware of. However, there are a million other autoimmune diseases that can accompany Lupus, one being hypothyroid. That will definitely cause bloating. There are other conditions that will as well, but I doubt if Lupus can cause that. Are you watching your salt intake? Have you had a TSH test (thyroid)????

Inflammation can cause all manner of symptoms and problems and bloating is one of them, but I have managed my bloating by eliminating certain foods such as grains and dairy; eating little and often of whole foods rather than a big meal at once and muscle testing what my body needs, but I did it with the help of a nutritionist/kinesiologist. We are all different and there are various ways to help out there; drugs just made the problem worse for me.

Bodies get very stressed these days with so much outside pressure on them including the chemical toxins of the modern world and pollution including EMF's from all the WiFi. What we eat and drink is so important. Keeping hydrated is vital.

I think it does...in my opinion because Lupus attacks the immune system which includes the digestive system bloating easily occurs. I feel it can be for a variety of reasons, food, stress and anxiety or those days when you feel generally low. I try to manage it by eliminating some foods and eating little and often. I also avoid eating in company as I find that stressful, so the impact on social life can be quite harsh. But I feel how each person manages it is up to the individual....it can be a bit hit and miss until you find what suits you.

And he said no so she said who did? He ran into my room were i pretended to asleep under d duvet and he said point at me and so sure of himself " it's mummy" ashamed as i was i could not stop laughing. I just had to make a few changes in my diet like useing oat drink as liquid milk, stopped eating brown bread then i try to have hot lemon tea after meal. If I stay away from dairy and gluten the bloating goes away for me. I think it's trial and error for everyone until you figure out what makes you feel better.

One of my daughters symptoms before being diagnosed was serve bloating and indegestion then she was diagnosed with lupus as lupus is inflammation of tissue anywhere in the body it can therefore cause inflammation of the digestive tract after lots of research into this she is diary and gluten free she rarely suffers from bloating or indegestion any more!! She tries to eat mainly organic and she also has found that list of her symptoms have gone or are less problematic . Some foods help reduce inflammation and some cause inflammation. Her antibodies in her blood tests have reduced too.

I don't think it necessarily does....but folks with lupus...like me...have sensitivities to certain food that can cause bloating. I actually also have celiac disease....had the biopsy....so no gluten for me....and that makes a difference....maybe chat with a GI specialist and start keeping track of ehat you eat and what happens....good luck! :)
