Hi everyone;

Today Laura and I are planning to go to some outside flee markets and do some shopping. Assuming my joints will hold out! Here in Alabama is is suppos to be in the mid 70's Fahrenheit.

Laura and I saw these little things called barefoot sandals. She and I made some for me. They serve absolutely no purpose other than looks. They don't rub on my Lupus rashes and blisters but, at first glance it looks like I have sandals on. I am still barefoot per say, just not as noticeable.

Most of what we saw were for ladies, so we had to come up with something that was more fitting for a guy. We used leather strip, braided them together and this in the photo is the final product.

I may not have to go completely barefoot now! Plus we can make these for about $.15 cents per pair! Beats the heck out of $100.00 dollars per pair of shoes. And it only takes about 20 minutes to make them.

Wishing y'all all the best! Hope you have a good weekend.

Coco;

I wore these all day today, after a few minutes got use to them and didn't pay attention to having them on. Plus not one person noticed that I was still barefoot, and not one rash or blister was rubbed raw!

Reply no2: aw, THANKS! I WISH I could take you up on this....but mimi & I have stuff in common: although most of my early life I was v much a barefoot girl, by the time I was 20 my feet were deteriorating so much I needed the help of bespoke orthotic insoles to be able to do anything weight-bearing πŸ™. So I'm sort of the opposite to you: I must have footwear with orthotic insoles so I can stand & walk without all sorts of even worse degrees of pain, numbness, nerve firing & other signs + symptoms than I have all the time in my feet & legs...this is due, apparently, to my personal combo of immune dysfunction + connective tissue disorder. You're so right: we're all different & do the best we can to stay positive with what we've got

One of my GRRRREATEST thrills was a few years ago when my bespoke orthotic maker (Langer) began to embed prescription orthotic insoles into the footbed of Birkenstocks...Now i have 2 PRECIOUS pairs of Birkenstock orthotic sandals and wear them pretending I'm going barefoot: JOY, I feel like I'm a girl again!

All this means you inspire me by the positive joyful way you live with your feet issues....

Coco:

As I have stated many times, you and I are proof, that with lupus we are all different but, yet the same. I still stand on my motto.

πŸ‘£I WILL NOT LET LUPUS CONTROL MY LIFEπŸ‘£

I see that you have the same motto also!

When I was younger I would not be caught without shoes or socks. Only at beach or swimming. I would not wear sandals out in public. So lupus has changed my life.

Now I can't do anything unless I'm barefoot! LOL!

That's ok because. Now I'm use to it. I don't think nothing of it. I Still go and do everything. I just do it barefoot.

Who knows I may start a new fashion? Everyone may want to start wearing barefoot sandals. My Grandaughter has already ask that we make her a pair. They are simple to make.

Wishing you the best!

Reply no1: I agree with lorelei: SO CLEVER & stylish. Am relieved you're experiencing no bad reactivity to them at all: this is the way to go when you need to give the impression of footwear πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thank you! They were Laura's ideal.

Yes, I had no issues, they did not rub what so ever. They have no bottom so there is nothing to put pressure on them when my foot moves. They are loosely tied so they move with my foot. They weigh nothing at all.

They are very comfortable!

These can be worn by people who can wear shoes but, who would rather be barefoot. They can still be barefoot but, go and not look like they are barefoot.

We have seen these but, all we found during research, everything was for ladies. They were made of beads and sequins. Nothing for guys. So Laura and I started experimenting and came up with braiding soft leather strips. This is the final results. The leather barefoot sandals can be worn by females and males kinda unisex if you will.

Lorelei;

Thank you! These were and are very comfortable. After a few minutes you forget you have them on. Plus no one knows you are really barefoot!

If you would like PM me with the length from end of 2nd toe to where foot joins the ankle, and The circumference of your ankle. We will make you a pair and send to you. See photo of where the braided leather is from toe to ankle to where it splits off to go around ankle for the length.

I know how you feel. I have stated many times, with lupus we are all different, but yet the same. I know this has changed your life, as it has mine but follow my motto.

I still do what I want to do, I still go where I want to go. I just go and do barefoot!
