Does lupus come under Vat exemption
That is so. I have used such machines for ages and the last one came VAT free at £299 from Roche. I think others were VAT free too. It was accompanied by a note that said words to the effect that the presumption was that the recipient qualified for VAT relief, as we all do if we need it for medical reasons. Why else would we want them? You might just like to check with Roche that the presumption is that you qualify, they knew my situation and I didn't need to contact The Revenue. The same exemption applies to many items, I have special light for SAD that was VAT free.
I have Hughes ( antiphospholipid syndrome) and Lupus was diagnosed more recently. Self testing has numerous benefits if it suits your condition. I have just had to drop my INR and inject Heparin in order to have some slightly intrusive tests done and can see just what is happening with my INR. Mine also fluctuates under normal circumstances and. Self testing means I can quickly get back to my high and narrow target. Best of luck with it.
How do you apply to be excempt or do I just tell them I have life long wArfrin I had a bypass and have aintphophlipid vascular sle nerve shef tumour should I contact hm revenue and customs
If you're not sure you could contact them. I went on their website and looked at the list of conditions. If I need any mobility aids I always ask for vat relief. Normally they ask if you are entitled and then they give you a declaration form, it needs name, address and the medical condition, then yousign to declare you have this illness. I've been filling in the form for at least 10 years and no one has ever queried it yet! X
Hi yes is the short answer! If you have a chronic condition diagnosed or disability and the product is stating you can declare this then do so!
Hi there, I wore wigs for a while due to lupus hair loss. All I had to do to get the vat exemption was fill in and sign a simple form. Hope its as simple for you.
i have queried this on several occasions. At first i was told the finger prick was not safe for me. but now the warfarin nurses regularly use one instead of me having the arm needle.
They said that it will be up to your GP if you qualify for free strips and also said that if your GP is not satisfied with you self checking they will not happily prescribe the warfarin
hope you update us all as to how you get on
