Hi Silverlady51, do you have any other symptoms apart from the discoid rash?

Hi Elle-26, my joint aches together with a slight hair loss, unfortunatley Im going through the menopause! so this offsets the immune system.

Sounds as if your Lupus is having a flare ... I say this as Ive lost nearly all my hair and diagnosed with Discoid Lupus with Lupus Erythematosus systemic symptoms. I was put on Quinoric & iron by my Dermatologist and GP put me on painkillers and Amitriptyline also Colofac as the Lupus triggered stomach and bowel problems. Now got an appointment to see Rheumatologist next month due to my joint and muscle pain and inflammation. Do you suffer from photosensitivity? As this brings on my flares and can be an aggravating factor in Discoid Lupus x

Hey, I also have discoid lupus for almost 5 years. When I was diagnosed, my dermatologist said that for long period of time is better to use ointments such as Protopic and not corticostereoids. I was using Protopic for two and half years and it really helps with one big flare on my head where hair was fallen off.
