This depends if it's discoid lupus or lupus SLE. When I waited for my results for discoid lupus it took 18 weeks as cultures have to be grown in lab. Hope your wait is not too long and try not to worry. Lupus UK are a great source of information.

Unless there is emergency treatment needed they sometimes wait until next appointment. When is yours? X

Routine bloods come back with 1-2 days but your autoantibodies can take a few weeks. Mine did anyway

I don't have very high ANA 1:320 and my DNA is borderline but increasing slightly. I have a raised CK and increasing LDH but I dont think thats to do with Lupus. They all have different ideas these docs. My initial tests where done by a Nurse Practitioner colleague and my own GP didn't seem too happy at first but did refer me. Initial referral was to a rheumatologist who didn't do anything, next we decided it must be CFS so I went to an immunologist. The immunologist decided to have me checked again by a different rheumatologist and I've been getting treatment ever since. The diagnosis at present is connective tissue disease but not sure which. It's taken a while.

If you have a bioxy test, you may have to wait for little long, but blood test is only couple of days. My primary doctor suggest to visit the second rheumatologist to making sure I got the best treatment for me and I think it is not a best idea. In the mean time, just make sure you have lots of rest and try not to worry so much. I'm in US...so maybe the process is different. But take care and good luck x

Hi guys thanks for your comments it's pretty frustrating waiting. I've only found out that I maybe suffering from lupus in the last month. I've had this malar rash on my face for well over a year now been treating it for eczema but nothing has helped. Then two months ago i suffered Bells Palsy believe me i looked horrendous! Was referred to a E.N.T specialist and they where the ones who wrote to my gp about lupus. Now reading about lupus I've got alot more symptoms that suggests its possible.

Hi reeneroo,

My initial ANA bloods took about 3 weeks to come back. Only had a test done for pernicious anaemia (my GP has always gone with my Lupus symptoms being ME) and came back with high ANA levels but Im not sure if it took so long because of the ANA or pernicious anaemia part of the testing.

I was referred to rheumatology after this test and they tested for all manner of conditions but these bloods took around 8 to 10 weeks to come back. Its a long wait when you're waiting for a diagnosis but I just tried to remember that it was worth that wait to accurately find out what was going on.

I hope you get some answers from your tests xx

Thanks titch hope you don't have to wait much longer too. It's all very confusing at the moment that's why I'm going to see my gp and find out what else they are gonna do.
