Hi guys I was wondering if anybody can help me out.
I am social distancing as I have discoid lupus and also had breast cancer 10 years ago. As I work as a holistic therapist I decided to cut down on my contact with people for 2 weeks.
My issue is that I read today that some people with lupus ned to self isolate for upto 12 weeks.
Are many of you doing this and do you think it is something that we should all be doing?
Thanks

I’m giving it a go. Idk about 12 weeks. One day at a time?
I plan on trying at least two weeks and see where the world’s at then. Then add weeks as time passes. I just bought a pack of N95 masks so I can go out temporarily, but they won’t be here until the middle of April/beginning of May? But that, and latex gloves, may give me a little more comfort so I can at least go to the store and buy groceries.
My husband has to go to work, he’s a first responder. He’ll shop for now, but I hate relinquishing extra tasks unto him, he does so much.
Thank you Mala, yes, giving up income is such a problem, of course, but risking catching something you are in a high risk over is a bigger one(?) I hope this gets figured out soon so people won’t need to worry any longer. I hope it get’s turned around soon so we can all get back to life.
All my doctors and therapists are doing tele appointments now. I have weekly one on one therapy online indefinitely since last week. In america it is becoming healthy or unhealthy are being told to stay in place. I did have a real appointment with my cardiologist for a heart condition follow up and we can go to the market for essentials but otherwise we are told to stay home if we are not hospital workers.
My friends who work at the hospital who have lupus, present cancer and other risks are still working. Also in NYC retired doctors and nurses have been contacted to fill voids even though they are high risk. So I guess it is not out of question to work if at risk but the need has to over ride the risk.
Lupus is one of the conditions that is on the list - and one top rheumy told me this morning she considers any patient on 5mg pred or more is at risk. You can't guarantee your clients are not CV +ve - we know that here in Italy at least half of infected people show no symptoms.
