I accidentally took my hydroxychloroquine tablet at the same time as my indigestion remedy (ranitidine).

I was meant to leave 4 hours either side. I now have awful heart burn and nausea. Anyone else done the same thing and is there anything I should do/not do? (I'm also on steroids hence the indigestion remedy). Too many meds, I knew I was going to mess up at some point!

I'm thinking you have to grin and bear it - and try to never do it again now you know how horrid it is.....

Thanks! The pain wore off after a couple of hours. And you're right, I now know not to do that again.

The reason for not taking them together is that calcium based medication reduces the hydroxy effectiveness, which is why it is advised to leave 4 hours between them. I don't know why you had indigestion and pain, I doubt it is because of taking those two together though.

i have those pill pots where you separate your tablets into morning, noon, evening and night. I top them up once a week, that way you shouldn't make any similar mistakes.

That's a good idea, I always forget whether I took the right pills at the correct times. Where does one get these pots, Boots?

boots do them but they are quite expensive, i get mine from home bargains come in a variety of sizes and styles, ie clip tops, sliding drawers.
