Matrix trial

I have been treated for lung cancer for five years. Initially with chemotherapy then radiotherapy. Followed by two years of immunotherapy.

Remission in between each treatment. Now lung is clear but spread to lymph nodes at base of neck.

Referred to Beatson in Glasgow who are forwarding biopsy to Birmingham to see if I am a suitable candidate for one of the Matrix trials.

Anyone on this at all?

Kevin

Dear foodbankcupar

Sorry to hear you have had some spread to your neck lymph nodes.

The Matrix trial is looking at different drugs to target certain gene changes in their cells.

This link will take you directly to information on the trial, what drugs they are looking at targeted therapies and some with combination chemotherapy.

So pleased to hear you're being offered this trial, Kevin. I've been on the governance board of CRUK's stratified medicine programme board for a few years and lung matrix trial is the flagship trial. It has helped many patients and over the years new 'arms' have been added to this as more has been learnt about lung cancer characteristics and new treatment agents developed to target these. There are several pharmaceutical partners involved and new treatments have been added over the years. We recently had an update on the various centres operating this really important study which has treated many many patients since it started. hopefully some of them will respond to you but they may have had different treatments if in different 'arms' as the whole purpose is to 'stratify' patients into different treatments most suited to the particular biological characteristics of their tumour/genome. lung cancer treatments have changed immensely in recent years and stratifying/targeting therapies to more specific ways has really improved outcomes for many. good luck. crukcambridgecentre.org.uk/...
