Has anyone heard that about 48% of people having lung cancer surgery often have silent reflux afterwards? Almost 9 weeks after my lobectomy I have noisy breathing in my oesophagus, a chronic cough, hoarseness in varying degrees, and post nasal drip particularly at night, and I burp quite often. All symptoms of silent reflux that I never had before my surgery.
I'm now taking Lansoprazole and Gaviscon Double Action or Advance as it was previously known. A week on, it has definitely made a difference to my cough in that I don't cough so often. I understand I may have to take this medication for a few months before it clears up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I know some of you have chronic coughs post surgery and it may be something you have without you realising.
I also bought a foam wedge cushion to raise my upper body whilst sleeping.
My doctor alerted me to this but if you Google it, you will see how common it is after lung surgery. Hope this helps one or two of you who suffer with post surgery chronic cough.

Thank you for the useful information. I too had lung surgery last September and have had a chronic cough since January this year. I have had a variety of medicine and tablets from Doctors.
