CBD Oil

My father was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lungs, with metastasis to lymph nodes in the chest and check. We are currently waiting for his MRI scan results to see if it spread to his brain. He will need chemo and radiation, but I also want him to start using CBD oil. Is there anyone out there that has used it, that can give me some advice on dosage, frequency, and what their experience has been? I would appreciate it any information. Thank you.

CBD is one of those things that seems to have palliative effects for some, but not all, patients. It can't hurt, but keep your expectations within reason. If you are looking for appetite stimulation, you're better off with a THC product. As for pain or sleep issues, CBD and THC both have their advantages, I guess. I've used various combinations of both and generally found that other pharmaceuticals are more effective for me, but cannabis does have its place. If you have access to an independent cannabis consulting service (i.e., one without their own product line), it might be worth checking out what they say based on actual need. If you have access to a dispensary, often the people running them are knowledgeable about the different combinations that they sell. There is no evidence that any of it is curative, of course, and no legit consulting firm or dispensary will make those claims, but plenty of people do seem to feel a heck of a lot better when they are heavily dosed. I'm not one of them, but I know they are out there. And you know what, CBD oil has a lot of potential benefits, so getting a good supply, preferably from cannabis rather than hemp, cannot hurt. Best of luck!

Sorry, forgot to mention -- as for dosage, a lot of the CBD oil or tinctures that I have seen are used "as needed." There is no threat of overdosing on CBD as far as anything I've read or heard. Some people need/benefit from more frequent dosing, some maybe from higher dosing. As with all these things, start small and see what works. A few drops under the tongue to begin might make a difference, maybe it will take a whole dropper full. Also, these are sold in various concentrations, so check that out first and know what you are getting. One person's dose may not be anything like another person's, because the CBD strength of the products might be way off.

Your post was very informative. We live in a state where it is legal so it is easy to get. My husband has no complaints or pain thank goodness but I bought the CBD for him to take for general health. I do not

Know if it benefits him or not. I think he takes a dropper full in am and pm.

I’m very sorry to hear about your Dad but hopefully he will be feeling better soon. I use cbd oil and medical marijuana edibles on a daily basis. I use 650mg cbd, 10 drops under my tongue, twice a day. I make my own edibles and eat about a peanut m&m sized piece at night for sleep. I don’t need appetite stimulation anymore but I know for sure it helps with that. The cbd helped with inflammation related to hip and knee surgeries but for real “pain” relief...thc is the way to go. Not enough to get “high”...but enough to get relief. Is your state a MM legal state? If it’s not then you can ask his doctor to prescribe Marinol. It’s a synthetic form of thc in pill form. Please keep us posted on his progress and in the meantime I will say an extra prayer for him. What’s your dads name so we know who we’re praying for? Be well

Just one note, if your Dad will be having Immunotherapy, you may want to first consult with his Oncologist before adding any Cannabis. There have been studies that found it can lessen the effects of treatment. Would hate for that to happen and I know it happened to one patient I know from another support group.

Best wishes
