I have decided to do another update as there are a lot of things going on with me lately!! I am 47 years old first diagnosed two years ago with NSCLC adnocarcenoma. I have started my keytruda treatments. That is going pretty good. I just am tired a few days after the treatment. I have had a breast scan which located a few lumps in both breasts. The oncologist is going to schedule a biopsy to check further into that. I had a head MRI done this past Thursday which revealed that I have a lesion about 2 cm in the brain. This is the scariest of issues. It is causing swelling in the brain and will need to be radiated immediately. I have been put on a high dose of steroids to reduce swelling and will need cyber knife surgery to remove the lesion. I am meeting with the radiology oncologist Monday. I am really scared about this. This will be fast tracked due to the severity of the issue. I have a PET scan scheduled this Friday by the GI doctor and my oncologist. This is for the repeated stomach issues that I have been dealing with. I will follow up with them both after I have the scan to see what the next move is with the stomach, but I believe it is a colonoscopy. I am currently in three different medicines to try to control the stomach aches and none of them are working 100%. I am still being denied for Medicaid, so a lot more has been coming out of my pocket for prescriptions, doctors visits, tests, and premiums. This has been very hard so I hope that fund raiser that my sister is working on really helps because lord knows I need it. Sorry that I don't have better news but I am trying to stay positive so please pray for me ๐โค๏ธ๐โค๏ธ
I love you all

Laura, how good to hear from you again. Thank you so much for checking in! You have had so many frightening things to deal with, and so much along your path, I pray your sister's fundraising efforts work so that you can carry on with your sweet family. Please know we are thinking about you, but my goodness, with all you carry, I hope it soon eases some and you find relief for all those symptoms/side effects. It is ok not to be positive now and then, we are human and sometimes we just have to scream, cry, rant, give up...and then we pick ourselves up again...but allow yourself to grieve and be angry too. You are in good company here, everyone understands and holds you close!
How very scary for you. And dizzying! So much going on that I don't know what to comment on first.
Very glad they decided on cyberknife as recovery time is so much shorted and easier than whole brain radiation.
Keytruda now? I am very interested in how you do on that as you are the first person I've heard of to be placed on Odivo then Keytruda. Please be careful and notify your dr if you develop trouble breathing. Pneumonitis is a side effect of Keytruda and you've had this once before.
Please keep us updated as this is such a new step the opdivo to Keytruda thing.
I to was diagnosed last Halloween with stage 4 lung cancer, it metastasized into my brain. I have 4 small liaison in the back of my brain. They did full brain radiation right away, I go tomorrow for my follow up MRI I pray that the liaisons shrunk. My main tumor is on the right lung at the top and both lymph nodes are inflamed in my chest. They cannot operated cause the cancer has spread to much and they cannot do radiation on the tumor as the cancer has spread to different parts in the chest and starting to go into my neck, the radiologist said it would be too lethal. Chemo therapy did not work as I am allergic to carbo platoon I think I spelled that right, they had to adjust the medication at first so I was getting the chemo on the 2nd infusion very slowly, it took 11 hrs and when I went back for the 3rd he told me the tumor got bigger so now I'm getting keytruda and I just finished my 2nd round so far I haven't had any side affects. Just tired that's all.
I was in the hospital at Christmas for blood clots in my legs so now I have to injected myself twice s day for the rest of my life. I just got out of the hospital again last month. My daughter in law found me unresponsive and couldn't wake me, called 911 and they rushed me to the hospital where they told my family that I was not responding so they where going to remove the breathing tub as this is my wish. When my pulmonary doctor called the doctors working on me and told them that he thinks it's a Mucos plug in my lungs and when they went to start suction the lungs I started to wake up, everyone was shocked I just woke up and it so happens that I didn't have a mucous plug after all. The doctors said I was a miracle. I guess God isn't ready for me yet. I'm
Sorry this is so long. I'll pray for you everyday. Believe the power of pray.
Sending best hopes that the cyberknife brings quick relief from troubling symptoms. Also that all of the scans paint a clear picture that leads to a good plan. That is a beautiful picture - obviously you have a lot to live for.
Laura, you are in my prayers. My cancer spread to my brain. I had 6 lesions & had the Gamma knife procedure. My first MRI showed good results. I just pray every day the ugly C word stays away!!!!! I panic every test I have. Good luck!!! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
