how do you calculate a dry weight

Any one have any idea how I can attempt to calculate a "dry weight". I have a lower abdominal lymph, which spreads throughout my body cavity and am currently in St Thomas being drained for a the second time. 3 Procedures are planned across 3 different hospitals and trusts. The first involves a bairatic op not to reduce the weight to produce extra floppy skin. Since I know what my actual weight is I wondered how they would calculate my dry weight , that is without the fluid

Oh that's a challenging question! Think you need to ask one of the 3 hospitals what it means and what you are supposed to do to measure it.

I agree with lovesradio - this is a very challenging question, considering the human body can be anything between 60-75% ‘fluid’. Even some of our bones are spongy in texture. Have you been advised to reduce ‘weight’ stored as fat?

Do you have ascites which is being drained?

Basically I have a lower abdominal lymph, its estimated to weigh around 56Lb and hangs below my knees. It then started to fill my body cavity as well as all the extremities At I clocked 190kg and was drained loosing 60kg in 2 weeks thanks to diuretics. But it seems roughly every 3or 4 months I shoot up from around 120kg to 160 at which point I become immobile and have to be drained again. There is a 3 stage plan for me, involving biariatric surgery (not to reduce weight but to produce "floppy skin". Then its off to a 2nd hospital for vascular surgery to take a chunk from hip to hip and just below belly button to just above pubic bone, then finally off to a 3rd hospital (all 3 by the way are different trusts and coordination between the 3 is proving difficult and tedious) for a debulking.
