Ten years ago I was diagnosed at the age of 28 with 2 DVT's in my right leg. I was on warfarin for 6 months only and now only wear a compression sock (measured). In the last 3 weeks ive been suffering with severe cellutitis which got progressively worse when about 2 weeks ago my foot, top and bottom swelled as did my ankle. I have seen 4 doctors, an emergency dr, the local walk in centre and spoke to a dr on the phone. I have had 3 different antibiotics and lots of painkillers. Finally last Wed another doctor referred me to MAU at my local hospital and I was admitted and stayed there until yesterday. Ive been having IV antibiotics through a canula and have a nurse who comes to my house to finish the course of antibiotics. I have been, still am fed up with the whole business of being told i was worrying too much by local doctors. Hopefully on the mend but they found no triggering factors. My circulation in my leg was damaged due to the clots, its now damaged again. Thank you to the hospital for investigating and to the dr who finally saw i was in pain and referred me. My advice....always persist. Thank you for listening x

Cellutitis Drama
All these posts, and listening to the big-heads at the Britain Against Cancer conference (400 people, mostly NHS admin staff on ''expenses') has made me realise it is up to us to advocate for better care. Is there anyone brave enough to set up a forum where we can contribute 'ideas that worked for us' when trying to get expert medical care? If anyone wants to email me on verite@greenbee.net I would love to hear from them - but am getting fed up with NHS wasting money on "strategies, targets, cost-cutting plans" etc. which do nothing for us.
Hi I have had similar concerns with my GPS having no idea what was wrong with my legs both were swollen beyond words finally in AE they decided to admit me only to be told on the ward that nothing was wrong!!!!! And sent home My friend who was concerned told me to take Red Vine capsules also to keep my legs raised as much as possible She also said it’s important to keep my legs well massaged with a Hydration cream. Doing all this has had a marvellous effect on my legs Now after one year there is no sign of cellulitis my legs feel great no heavy pain anymore I am in my 70s so if it works for me please give it a try. Best of luck
I have a similar problem like you. At my wits end .
Its been week since finishing my IV antibiotics. At first my foot getting less swollen, now ankle swollen and top of foot still painful and stiff. Im now at wits end. Having to wear my sisters shoes (next size up). Dont know what to do. My doctor hasnt checked on me since leaving hospital and once again im doing all the running around. If no improvement over christmas then will have to make another dr app. How long does this go on for? A friend told me i seemed low. I am x
