Anti histamines cause water retention?

I have been on zirtek and before that triludan for 30 years for itchy skin. I thought anti histamines cause swelling and worsen itching but every Doctor I ask disagrees. I am particularly worried because the Doctor wants to treat my condition with amtriptyline but there are contraindications.

You could contact Lipoedema UK and ask if they have info about the interaction of certain drugs in cases of Dercums Disease (which you mentioned in another post).
