Screening mammogram

So I got a screening 3D mammogram done last week. They are calling me back for some further investigation. I have dense breast tissue which though normal, has higher risk of cancer. I’m not too worried but it is on my mind and just wanted to write about it and see if others have similar experiences.

Hello :-)

A lot of the time they can call people back which is a good thing as they are double checking but at the same time majority are fine and I am sure you will be to :-)

Thinking about you and have everything crossed :-)

Let us know how you get on :-)

Take Care x

I had dense tissue and fibrous cysts. As I got older they improved. Have had many call backs and several biopsies. All turned out well. Most likely you got a call back to err on the side of caution. Will keep you in my thoughts.

Hi Star.

Yes it has probably happened to many of us. One of my call backs, I was scheduled for a biopsy but I asked the radiologist to check to see if was a fluid filled cyst. It was, so big relief. Then I had to have biopsies one each breast. Turned out to be benign also. Then they followed me for a while. I went through lots of anxiety. So I guess the odds are that it is nothing to worry about.

I know sometimes it is fruitless to say Don’t worry. However try to stay in the present and try to wait calmly for any results. The 3 D mammon’s result in more call backs, but they are just being cautious and chances are in your favor that you are just fine. So no use to not be optimistic and realize it is just routine.

I see you wrote in 22 days ago. How are you now ?
