I have been having anxiety and panic attacks on and off for the last 20 years.i am on sertraline and have been for the last 16 years on and off. I've just started seeing a councillor and hoping it works.
I keep thinking I am going to die or going to go mad.i have been on 150mg of sertraline for the past few years but wasent taking it every day i was taking it every 2 days. Would this have caused me to have a relapse and will it start to work soon as I've been taking it every day now for nearly 3 weeks.

Sorry you are not having things so good at the moment , I know how you feel but now you have found these Communities you are not on your own
The meds when you were taking them the first time would have helped but as you were missing a day then taking one you possibly would not have got the full effect from them but I doubt it would have caused a relapse
Now you are back on them I would take them every day or as prescribed to get the full effect but they do take possibly 3 months before you do start to get the full effect from them so 2 weeks is still early to see a change as such , give them time
I to am seeing a Counsellor and question is this going to work , is this going to help ? but then I have to tell myself it will take time and they cannot cure us as such but they can help us to slowly change the way we think and give us the tools as I say to make changes , so again give this time and be honest with them , if you fear it will not work ( which your anxiety will want you to believe ) then tell them so then they can talk it through with you as the more honest you are with them gives Counselling a better chance of working
