Acid reflux

Has anyone developed acid reflux or globus sensation in throat due to anxiety? If so, how did you deal with it? I really would prefer not to be put on medication as my anxiety gets worse when I start worrying about health issues and new medications.

Hi there! I'm wondering about this too as I started suffering from some level of acid reflux around the time I started experiencing anxiety. I get heartburn and I tend to cough when I eat. Why do you think it could be caused by anxiety?

It started every couple of days and now it seems to be every day. The last couple months my anxiety has been pretty high and it started right around that time too. Omeprazole kinda helps. I have a Dr appointment to discuss and see why I’ve developed it all of a sudden. I’d like them to do tests just to make sure that’s what it is instead of just prescribing medication. Hello busymama2 :-)

Yes I do and have for years and when it is rife it is quite frightening but the more we get anxious the worse it gets because a lot of people with anxiety have digestive problems

How I cope with it is trying to relax ( not easy ) watch what I eat and when I eat especially not late at night , manuka honey sometimes helps or Gaviscon , a drink of cold milk as well and just waiting for it to pass again which it usually does :-)

Keep a food dairy and see if certain foods help trigger it of as they can and then we have to try and avoid them :-)

Take Care x

Thank you! Unfortunately I’m allergic to honey.

Give the others ago and especially watch what you are eating like spicy foods etc , I do go through bad bouts and think it will never clear up but it does :-)

Good Luck :-) x
