Fluoxetine Help

I have been on 20mg for about 8 years and then for about a year I took 20mg every other day (stupid thing to do). I then started feeling my anxiety come back again so I 5 weeks ago I started taking it everyday again. But I’m feeling like I’ve started from the beginning again with the side effects. Can anyone help?

First please don't ever think you are or have done anything stupid , we all do things with the right intentions

I have not been on these meds but all meds work more or less the same

Because you had been taking them 8 years I am pleased you did not stop them altogether or you would have felt ill , now you then started missing a day but you will have still had the drug in your system so I am not a Doctor but would not have thought taking them every day would be giving you side effects again , well not severe one's and I am wondering if maybe it could be your anxiety ?

If it was me I would go and see your Doctor , tell them exactly what you have been doing the last year with the meds and your reasons why and let them reassure you , don't be afraid to tell them as you won't be the first the has done something like this and you won't be the last either

Yes you will get side affects again I’m afraid 😟. I’m not a doctor but I have increased dosage of meds and technically you’ve increased your dose back up to 20mg.

I don’t think you’re stupid at all. A couple of times I’ve just gone why the hell am I taking these I don’t feel any better and stopped altogether and like Lulu said we do things with good intentions.

Personally I’d prob get an appointment with your gp just so they’re aware of the situation 😊 x

Oh! Hang in there!! Once it gets to a therapeutic level in your blood stream side effects should subside. I don't know how long it takes with that medication but things that can help are taking it daily, which you are doing, and taking it at the same time each day. What side effects are you noticing and are you noticing any of the positive effects of the medication?
