Dinner before my night duty, this is my go to as it takes literally 5 mins. I use chicken mince but it's usually made with Pork. No cutlery so less washing up too.

That's a good idea! You could also freeze the mince, and defrost/heat it in the microwave while washing the leaves.

It's not as common in the UK, so here is a link to a recipe.

Yes I think next time I'll bulk cook it and freeze..

That recipe has more ingredients than mine, I used shredded cabbage because I didn't have bean sprouts, chicken mince, chilli, splash of soy and splash of sesame oil to taste, I cooked it in garlic/chilli infused olive oil... Skipped the peanuts and still tasted good... Quicker and tastier than driving to the local takeaway (healthier too)

I have only ever seen toasted sesame oil which I reckon is absolutely delicious. Does the toasting do something dreadful to the oils in the seeds?? Someone please tell me that toasted sesame oil is ok to eat!!!!

I never cook with sesame oil, only use it at the end of cooking for taste, a Tsp in 200gm chicken mince is plenty and infused right through, Ditto when making dressings for my Poke' bowl or for other Asian meals, I love the flavour and a small bottle lasts ages, my bottle just says sesame oil so no idea if it's toasted, I don't care either..... Still going to indulge occasionally 😉

Oh definitely not for cooking with. I put it on a stir fry after cooking as a seasoning 😋

ARGH! I just googled it, and they can use hexane or other solvents to extract sesame oil.

Roasting is not a problem (I hope!) but now I will look out for virgin sesame oil.

🙄

Of you can buy cold pressed olive oil I'm sure you'll be able to buy cold pressed sesame oil.... Or just buy the seeds and say the magic words 😉. For the tiny amount I eat at a time and how often it's consumed I'm not too fussed really...

Oh poo. I've never seen extra virgin but I live in a very small rural town. Maybe it has to go 😥

Nah, just think if you lived in a city you'd be inhaling all sorts of fumes, residing rural you're breathing fresh air, so the odd TSP of dirty sesame oil won't harm you 😉
