I had a dream last week. I will spare you the details but I was in some sort of natural disaster. Food was being provided at several different kitchens; so a combination of tsunami relief and a food court. In my dream I was in a desperate situation, but moving from vegan kitchen to sandwich counter, looking for someone who could give me a low carb meal.
I knew I had changed my metabolism, but hadn't realised an even greater change to my subconscious.
Anyone else?

But that's the thing. I didn't want the carbs. If I remotely wanted them, I had dreamt up (literally) an excuse to eat them, but I really really don't want them.
OMG. I think if I'd just survived a natural disaster and was confronted by hemp-sandalled types running a vegan kitchen, I think I'd throttle them all (for their own good), throw the water cooler through the window, and head off into the hills.
I have to say, though, I have never been annoyed in dreams by a lack of appropriate food. The last dream I can even remember (I almost never remember them) involved some excitement over the powertrain of an electric truck, which in retrospect is even more worrying than your dream.
You have been away from the UK for a long time. A modern vegan is more likely to be a millennial hipster than a hemp wearer. Bamboo, maybe, and ethically sourced.
Hi, not yet in a dream but 2 weeks ago i went into hospital for my knee replacement op. Now bearing in mind i wasnt allowed to eat from midnight the night before and wouldn't be fit for lunch due to the op timing i was still on high alert to stick with my eating plan, even the TMAD aspect. I think the nurses thought i was a bit potty although one did offer to shop for me so i would have something appropriate 💖
As it turned out i enjoyed some really good salads, was allowed to not have breakfast and was only there 36 hours after the op so only had 2 meals while i was in lol
Committed or obsessed.....? I'm not sure but definitely happier when i know i can stay on plan 😊 xx
Hi Toad, rehab and progress is going amazingly well thanks. I had my 1st follow up physio appt yesterday and after all the checks i've been discharged lol. Full function of my knee, minimal pain killers, no crutches unless i'm going out for a walk and then i take one just in case. Just getting up and down stairs normally to master then i'll be ok to drive again too. I can hardly believe it.
I feel like its knocked 20 years off me and i've still dropped some weight off. Someone, somewhere is definitely in my corner or looking down on me 😂 xx
A friend of mine is in hospital to have her baby (taken in 10 hours before the planned inducing which is already madness to me given how rested she'll want to be) They gave her processed chicken pastry with 2 scoops of mash and a piece of syrup cake. How can hospitals be allowed to provide such muck for vulnerable people who need their nutrients so badly.
Oh that sounds disgusting. I must say the meals sounded and looked good, fresh too where i was. Its just everything was either with pasta or rice, or a pie!! The salads were basic but as fresh as if i'd just made it. I'm not convinced the ham wasn't processed though (i did leave it lol) but there was eggs in the salad so i didn't mind.
I couldn't believe how often they were offering the biscuits out though!!!
Thanks Shield-Maiden. I made Ecko (my lab) my PT buddy for walking (she's 13 and not wild any more lol) and i'm already having to slow down for her 😂😂 xx
When I first adjusted my diet from low carb to keto, my subconscious began to add in carb laden meals to some of my dreams. It was like some kind of mad product placement thing 😂 My brain was crying out for glucose and trying to suggest what it wanted in my dreams. It only lasted a few nights but I found it hilarious, especially as I hadn’t eaten a bowl of chips for ages even on low carb. Sounds like your dream was illustrating one of your very real fears. Unfortunately, trying to find something low carb and gluten free is a common problem when out and about. I imagine I’d just starve in a disaster.
I had a lot of dreams about eating bread and butter. Well, not about, I literally just dreamt about eating slice after slice of thickly buttered bread.
Oh, Hidden i must apologise, I have enjoyed zero carb dream bread!
When i lower my carbs i invariably dream of eating them. I've heard that it's very rare to eat or taste food in a dream but not for me - and it only happens when im fasting or v low in carbs. It's always a very vivid and realistic experience of something delicious ha! Worst part is it probably spikes my insulin in the middle of the night ugh!
Lol! Love your dream SB... definitely some deep-rooted low carb fears you're working through over night! You've reminded me of one I had recently, but until I read this I hadn't even made the connection it was about low carb. Seems obvious now though!...
Long story short... I ended up being dropped off at a hotel in the middle of nowhere with work colleagues, no transport, nothing nearby... got to the room, exhausted, 'room service' arrived as we're to be confined to rooms (clearly some quarantine hotel fears going on here too)... and it was a plate piled high with toasted white sliced bread, cut neatly into triangles. "There is nothing else to eat. Our kitchens can't cope with preparing food for so many people, so we're only serving everyone toast"... me: "but I only need a boiled egg, even one boiled egg will do please".... "no... only white toast"... then the alarm woke me up so I've no idea how I would have resolved it in my dream!
I almost got stuck in my nightmare last night— agreed to take someone to a sushi restaurant as a treat (they were really looking forward to it)… and I assumed I would be able to choose some protein with some veggies snacks, like chicken/salmon, with maybe edamame peas —- but nothing like that was available. ALL just the usual sushi rolls white rice rice and more rice. I had been fasting for 20 hours by that stage… so I picked my way through some salmon and avocado fillings from inside the rolls. Not my finest hour.
Brilliant thread! A fascinating look into everyones unconscious mind.
Can't say food is a big theme in my dreams, if it does feature it's usually steak - I presume it's a basic wish fulfilment dream.... or maybe an iron deficiency....
Finally joined the club. Last night I dreamt I was working at the London Boat Show and joined some people for lunch. We all decided on eggs benedict, but when it arrived it was scrambled egg on a pile of white rice😱😱
