ITP and chronic hives
Yes. But what might seem like hives can also be an outbreak of psoriasis, Eczema or some other type of pruritis. I did think I had hives because the episodes would come and go within 10 or 15 minutes. But I never had welts as you expect in hives. This condition is worse when you platelets are very low. But I think the root cause might be a combination of autoimmune attack on the thyroid and an aftereffect of hypothyroid symptoms relating to dry skin. What I have learned is that everything is connected and the interplay between problems is a torturous journey.
I currently am avoiding steroids with Rituxan treatment. Although a minimal amount of steroid has been used during treatment, my doctor is planning to change the protocol from 4 weekly treatments to one treatment every three months. Sorry you are experiencing this. Good luck on your condition and please post any actions that may help.
Thanks, i had it 10 years ago and it went away after a year from steroid. It's back and on various type of treatments for almost a year now and still ongoing. Specialit tried xolair as there have been good signs with other atents, unfortunately... we found out that i'm allergic to it after the first shot was administered. I feel like a ginny pig at the moment till we find a good match of treatments. I'm glad to know that i'm not alone. Good luck to you too.
