hi iam suffering from chronic itp from past 3 yrs doctor has suggested me to go for slpeen people has suggested me not to do spleen.please help me guys but there is no bleeding

Hi Srik. Can you give us more info about your ITP. What are your current counts? What treatments have you had? What symptoms are you having now? How old are you? What is your life style? I'm 55, had it for 2 years. I was diagnosed with 8000 & have bruises popping up everywhere, extreme fatigue, bleeding gums, but really little to no petechiae. I've had IVIGs, Prednisone, & Rituxan treatments. No help from those, but for now my count stays around 30-40, w/no treatments. I plan on no more treatments unless I get to single digits again or have bleeding symptoms. My doctors have suggested removing my spleen, but that is a last resort for me.

Same for me been 10 months 4000 lowest been no bleeding gums but have had a slight nose bleed at 4000. Did all same treatments none worked except NPLATE it's working well.

My last blood count was around 70000 from past 3 weeks iam suffering with heavy body pains as well if i sit for more that an hour i cant even stand or walk immediate. dr has suggested to go for spleen.please suggest some thing.

Hi. Krishna. Don't go spleen removal without much deep dive on all the medicine , try to live if you able rather living by one less organ.

Hi, I've had the same treatments as you with platelets in single digits and have been living ok without my spleen since August, but in my case it made no difference. I've kept infections away with high dose Vit C, multi-bits and obsessively washing my hands. However I recently tested positive for H-pylori, a stomach bacteria which usually causes ulcers. It can occasionally be the cause of ITP. 2 weeks of antibiotics and my platelets have shot up from 34 to 160 - I have weekly blood tests. Full disclosure: I have also been on n-plate for 4 months but it hasn't been working very well, so it looks like it was the bacteria. Get tested first just incase, it's an easy fix.

Everyone I have talked to spleen didn't do any good to take out so I am saying no to my dr. Because then you don't have imune system to fight off disease. Long term antibiotics which can't be good for you. It's hard decision good luck me I am just hoping something kicks in my body doing better have went 5 weeks see Tuesday what my numbers are hoping still up. At 143000 five weeks ago.

Platelets can destroyed in the liver as well as the spleen, so you need an Indium test to see where yours are being destroyed. No point in a splenectomy if the liver is destroying your platelets.

Hi, my daugther had have ITP for 2 years . She had been on and off in hospital (back that time she was 17 years old). She was on prednisone for more then 1 year, when I decided to give her colostrum tablets. Since than her plaletes went up ,and after 7 years she is fine ( now she is a mom for a beautiful baby girl). Her number are around 240.000.

My Doc. also says I am not responding to therapy and the case had been aggravated to chronic but no bleeding, what is your present count.
