HI I have been having irregular bleeding since I came off femara. Is this normal? I went to the gp and she said I should go to the fertility clinic as she has no idea about fertility medicines. My question is could the irregular bleeding be due to me taking clomid after taking femara? Or is it just because of my pcos? My periods have always been irregular but now I seem to be bleeding inbetween periods and I am having very short cycles.
Femara and irregular bleeding? - Infertility Support
Femara and irregular bleeding?
Does your doctor know about this? If so did they do transvaginal ultrasound to check if any ?
Did they advice to get your blood test for hormones too?
How is your clinic treating you?
I have an appointment in a few days with the fertility clinic.i was just wondering if anyone had same experience with femara? I will ask the clinic about these tests you mentioned. Thank you
You may have a general physical exam, including a regular gynecological exam. Specific fertility tests for women may include:
Ovulation testing - a blood test measures hormone levels to determine whether you're ovulating.
Hysterosalpingography - Evaluates the condition of your uterus and fallopian tubes and looks for blockages or other problems. X-ray contrast is injected into your uterus, and an X-ray is taken to determine if the cavity is normal and ensure the fluid spills out of your fallopian tubes.
Ovarian reserve testing - Helps determine the quality and quantity of the eggs available for ovulation. This approach often begins with hormone testing early in the menstrual cycle.
Other hormone testing - check levels of ovulatory hormones, as well as pituitary hormones that control reproductive processes.
Imaging tests. Pelvic ultrasound looks for uterine or fallopian tube disease. Sometimes a hysterosonography is used to see details inside the uterus that are not seen on a regular ultrasound.
Depending on your situation, rarely your testing may include:
Hysteroscopy. Based on your symptoms, your doctor may request a hysteroscopy to look for uterine or fallopian tube disease.
Laparoscopy - May identify endometriosis, scarring, blockages or irregularities of the fallopian tubes, and problems with the ovaries and uterus.
Genetic testing - Helps determine whether there's a genetic defect causing infertility.
Not everyone needs to have all, or even many, of these tests before the cause of infertility is found. You and your dr will decide which tests you will have and when.
How would you define the bleeding? Like mild and crampy, no cramps spotting, just light flow or like a normal AF? If it's anything other than a normal AF like then it's because changing hormone therapy. Femera also gives spotting as a breakthrough effect but haven't heard that coming off it cause the bleeding too.
The bleeding was spotting some times red sometimes dark brown very unusual and some days like a light flow but brown in colour. I think it may be the effect of switching fertility medicine as I took clomid for 1 cycle. Anyway i went to see the consultant she did a ultrasound and said everything seems to be okay and bleeding might be able to do with having a lot of oestrogen because of femara.Since then the spotting has stopped and now I am having a normal cycle so far. Going to have some blood tests and then maybe moving on to different treatment hopefully.
