Hi all i had septic shock due to a binary infection last september and spent 5 weeks in intensive care. I have an infected finger nail and it looks quite nasty and is very painful. I am also worried about sepsis coming back.

Sepsis
Hi Zoe
I too had sepsis and I understand that the little devil just hangs around in your body just waiting to pop out and bite you. A bit flippant I suppose, but with everything else its the least of my worries. On a serious note my immune system is very poor and knocks and cuts can take awhile to heal so its not unusual for me to have to take antibiotics. I probably leave it a bit late to ask for them but I would say you need to speak to your GP ASAP or dare I say it visit a minor injuries unit.
I assumed that sepsis was like chicken pox, once you got it, you’d never get it again - well I was wrong.
Some people have it multiple times & I agree with @Familyhistorian - if you are concerned maybe call into pharmacist and then GP if it persists.
Equally my immune system was on the floor - so I took ages to heal from anything.
Hi. I had sepsis last May, and was in ICU for 4 weeks. I had an infection in various areas including my spine. Also the sepsis gave me kidney failure amongst other things. With the treatments received both the infections and sepsis went, but it was a difficult time. I understand the sepsis is a reaction to the infection, so I guess as it is possible to have another infection it could result in sepsis again.
Hi Zoe. Have you taken more than your fair share of antibiotics? If yes, have you thought about taking high dose probiotics?
I take Holland & Barrett Acidophilus Ultra Maximum 20 Billion (good bacteria), because I've been quite ill over the years and had quite a lot of antibiotics which zap your body. I can't live without them, they are AMAZING!Health experts are finding evidence that if we can improve our gut health this helps to fight off other things
thank y ou i will have a look
I stock up only when they're on buy one get one for a penny. They have to be kept in the fridge after opening Zoe (because they are live bacteria). Also, you have to swallow them with a cold drink (a warm drink would kill the live bacteria). I sometimes take them with a yogurt drink such as Actimel
