Down Syndrome/Pneumonia/organ failure

My 17yr old brother who's Down Syndrome was taken to the ER at 3am Sat.bbecause he wasn't feeling well. He had aggressive pneumonia and was sedated and had 20oz of fluid drained from left lung by Sunday morning. This was a week ago exactly. Tube in his side draining, ventilator 90%, on dialysis since Friday afternoon and waiting to see if he has brain injuries from sedation. This morning head dr.said they're worried now about his heart failing. Our family can't belive how quickly this has all happened. I'm so scared with how fast it's happened is he going to make it? The downs complicated things also.

God help you and your brother i hope you have faith because prayers are the only thing that brought me through after four years in icu with pneumonia and streptococcus and trachiotomy i still have memory failure so i can only suggest a counsillor if you are lucky enough to get one i wasnt i think thats why im still suffering and i pray that he comes through this as i type these words to you xxx

I'm not sure if it's because of the Downs. I'm hoping someone has insight. It has all happened so fast.
