Hi reading between the lines I'm guessing she is concerned about whether this is normal. You do have glands under the arms, in the stomach and in the groin, I have been checked here before also when my son wasn't well and in hospital he was checked in same places. Before having my tonsils removed I used to get bad tummy pains, my niece was the same and it was down to the stomach glands being inflamed. I don't think there is nothing untoward here I think it is a dr doing their job thoroughly and checking for any inflammation. I remember the registrar checking me like this on admittance to hospital plus checking fingers toes etc, when I had a TIA I was checked this way and he asked if I wanted a nurse present whilst he checked me. Hope your friend can feel assured that this is a good dr doing the cheks hey should carry out.
I have had frequent examinations, although not lately as I do get extremely swollen glands... however never been inappropriately examined and I don't remember having a chaperone, but it was a while back. MaryF x I would have thought it would be standard these days.
Actually, you can usually feel if your lymph nodes are swollen. I routinely check the ones in my neck -if they feel swollen I know that either my INR is too low, or I'm about to come down with some virus.
But my rheumy's always check all the glands you mentioned.
yes i find that glands come up when im coming down with something, they even come up under my arms when i shave my underarms, they come up to fight off infection and to protect you. it doesnt always mean that there is something serious with you, its just the way the body works.
