please since I am new to all this, can someone tell me why sometimes I have trouble walking, and why your knees hurt? have a diagnosis for a year and using 100 mg aspirin. This disease is still unknown to most physicians in Serbia and difficult to get an explanation

Hi Malena

I started on Aspirin when diagnosed in 2008. Then went onto Warfarin and now on Heparin. Some days i cannot walk properly. I am very stiff and my joints do not move easily. They ache too sometimes. I have never experienced this before 2008. My feet hurt but not my knees. Most of my body aches and pains come and go. i think we all experience different things but its all connected somehow. Don't worry i don't get any answers either. i think it has something to do with the inflammation of the joints. Flare ups ? i am not sure but i would like to know the answer too !! If you find out let me know.

Hi Malena pleased to meet you ;-) and welcome... i have APS and more recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I did have pain in knees when diagnosed, quite severe arthritic pain during my recovery from clots on the brain but as a child/teenager before diagnosis i also remember pain in fingers and joints with sports. I was diagnosed in 1990 age 24 now im 47. The only joint pains i have had since starting warfarin back then they say is down to fibromyalgia. Mornings esp very stiff joints difficult to walk properly when i first get out of bed that self resolves. I got generalised muscle aches and pains esp in my calfs with walking, and with walking distances i get alot of pain in my feet that causes me to limp but then disappears with resting

. Everyone it effects differently and doctors tend not to have answer to what they class as less serious side effects but for us these symptoms it would be nice to know why... hopefully i will learn more in oct and can share this as i will be seeing a nurse specialist for CTD yet to find out what initials means but been referred by rheumatologist!!

Sometimes it helps just knowing you are not alone with your symptoms but sadly frustrating if the medical profession treats us like we are neurotic because they simply dont know much about the condition

take care love kathy xx

Thank you for your response.

Sorry for my bad English I hope you understand me

Little is known about the APS in Serbia and yet I managed to get a diagnosis for 6 months.

My problem was last year when I received a facial paresis, and paralysis of the right side of the body, the reflexes were poor.

They suspect the MS and worked my analysis showed that was not the case.

Then my neurologist did a test of thrombosis and so it all began.

Since then I have several times migraines, stronger hair loss, pain in the shoulder and hand, and now I have terrible pain in my knees because ay hardly walk.

At work, try to understand me but do not know about the disease a thing.

At the doctor's the same thing, except for internists and neurologists no one familiar with this disease.

I am glad about this is that I can communicate with some.

Love malena .

Hi Malena

I get joint pains in my legs and I too take Plaquenil like Paddyandlin, it has helped. I try to keep my joints warm and massage them and keep them moving so I stretch and bend them before getting out of bed and when I am sitting. But I find warmth is best.

Hi Malena,

I too get these pains. I am being put on Plaquenil too, I hope they will relieve my symptoms. At present I take tramadol and use heat pads, I think the heat pads and gently exercising the legs helps.

As paddy said print off some information from Hughes Foundation website and take to Doctors might help.

Take care, gentle hugs, Love Jessielou xxxxxxx
