Hi all, I’m having bilateral mastectomy soon & the surgeon wants me to start oral arnica. I’m on daily dalterparin (& hydroxychloroquine). I know arnica interacts with warfarin but struggling to find out how or if theres any specific interaction with dalterparin. Does anyone have experience or any pointers?
Many thanks!

I was advised not to take arnica as I'm on clexane, clopidogrel and aspirin.
WebMD states ' There are no significant drug interactions, when using topical forms of arnica. Arnica may increase the effect of anticoagulants and other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding when taken orally.'
I would speak to your APS specialist and get a bridging plan put in place too.
Arnica slows down the clotting process and so has the potential to interact with all anticoagulants. It is classed as an intermediate level interaction but increases bleeding risk.
Hi, I have read the reply from HollyHeski and I agree with this, If I were you I would be terribly cautious and get in touch straight away with your main Hughes Syndrome/APS consultant: drugs.com/npc/arnica.html I use Arnica cream, but don't take it as a supplement. I am pretty sure it should be not taken with Aspirin or anticoagulants. MaryF
Cheers MaryF & Yissca for your replies. I’ve looked at a few studies like this ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/2... which is why I think the surgeon wants me on oral arnica. I’ll try get hold of my local haematologist or if not I’ll try St T’s. If I find any specific studies I’ll post.
