Hi, do get in touch with your doctor as soon as possible, my daughter had hives for eighteen months, and calmed down once on Plaquenil, for her Lupus. This does happen to me regularly, and I can't always work out what the allergy is, (I do have Stevens Johnson Syndrome), a type of mast cell disorder, I usually react well to an allergy pill, however if it does not work I do go straight to my GP, to be monitored. Debb, I would start with the Hemo and have your liver enzymes checked. I have an antibody that is associated with PBC (Primary Biliary Cholangititis) and read that itching is a symptom. Fortunately my liver is still functioning, so I don't understand my high titre ANA with a pattern associated with PBC. Hopefully it's just your allergies acting up. Praying relief for you and everyone else soon.

thx for the advice it’s great advice! My hemotologist joined a group now and doesn’t really care much anymore! Spoke today and was told to go to my uneducated primary doctor! If he refuses to do tests I’ll go to my gastro or hepatologist! Thx this helps a lot!

Hi, I go through this and I mentioned it to my gastro as I was seeing him for something else, he said it related to too much fat in the body that the liver was struggling to cope with. This is different to high cholesterol.

So yes, please see your gastro, especially as anti histamine is not helping either.

Can you see a doctor today, I'm worried this is a severe flare or going into an anaphylactic reaction?

Do you have eye drops for your sjogrens and if do does his help?

Hi

I have had this the last eighteen months and for me it turned out to be gastro diet related. Out of the blue I suddenly became intolerant to lots of food stuff. Seen all kind of doctors and they found a polyp in my gallbladder. They removed my gallbladder and the itching improved but I still have to eat a careful diet. I worked it out by fasting for a day and eating only rice and de caffeinated tea. That night the itching stopped. There are many reasons I found the interenet for itching but this worked for me and my gastro doctor said he is seeing more and more cases of this but doesn't know why.

Might not be your issue but thought it was worth sharing.

I have chronic idiopathic Urticaria. I have parts of my body that will just start having hives for no apparent reason. I am allowed to dose high on claritin if needed. I am having a round of blood tests done in January for some possible new food allergies. I may talk with the allergist to see if there may be any intolerances or the like adding to the hives.

Wish I reacted to allergy meds, but it does absolutely nothing! My eyes actually hurt now from the itch and they’re red! The inside of my nose itches every part of my body itches leaving no relief in sight! I’ll ask my doctor to take liver enzyme tests but he don’t like to be told so he may not and I’ll have to go to gastro doc! Thx for feedback and hope u do well
