I have APS and take Warfarin and Aspirin (Fragmin when INR too low) I've been asked to be a case study for a friend training in Reflexology. Does anyone know if it is okay to have Reflexology whilst on Warfarin?

Reflexology and warfarin?
If you are concerned, ask your doctor. In fact, the rule is to always consult with your doctor, particularly, if taking alternative medication, aka, herbal products.
Similarly, deep tissue massage, for example, should not be used in conditions such as SLE, as this could lead to further damage.
AFAIK, I cannot see any link between warfarin and reflexology. Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion.hat
I can appreciate how this may feel great, but I don't see how reflexology would affect blood thinning agents, but I'm not a doctor!
The principle of "do no harm" is the following: IF the product cannot do any harm; and doesn't cost a lot, then try and see if it helpful to you!
I have had acupuncture. It didn't work for me, but other people, including my former GP, found it helpful. If this is performed by a licensed practitioner, then that is fine to try.
After checking with your doctor, see if reflexology helps you. Keep a diary and publish your results!
With good wishes,
Ros
Hi Please tell your GP or at least ask them, as per what you have already received in feedback, deep tissue massage is a no no when on Warfarin etc. However my reflexology which I had years ago, really did help me sleep etc and was very gentle, as long as your therapist is fully informed and re the no no around deep tissue massage, and you consult your GP, I can't see the problem.
